INDIVIDUAL CAMPAIGNS:

Hunger & Homelessness: Join UMass students in their fight against hunger and homelessness! It’s crazy, but even though we're the richest country in the world, over 38 million Americans are at risk of experiencing hunger each year. Budget cuts are slashing many important programs, and more people are finding themselves on the streets. The Hunger & Homelessness Campaign is working to make improvements by volunteering at area shelters, educating people about the issue, and lobbying decision makers to increase funding and expand important anti-hunger monitoring, and environmental education.

Come to our meetings on Wednesdays @8 in the Blue Wall!

Save Darfur: Just since 2003 at least 400,000 civilians have been killed in Darfur and most people don’t even know about it! Women are being raped by Sudanese government soldiers, and about 2.5 million civilians have been driven out of their homes. There is a systematic destruction taking place, civilians' villages are being torched and their possessions stolen. Thousands are dying each day from inadequate food and water, and harsh living conditions in the shelters. Those who do survive are too scared to return to their homes. The world has not seen such a calculated campaign of mass slaughter since the Rwandan genocide in 1994. One of the biggest problems is that most US citizens are not even aware that this genocide is taking place! Before anything can be done to help those in Darfur we have to first make sure that this genocide is known about. Help Umass students raise money and awareness for this cause!

Stop Global Warming: Global warming is all over the news right now, but almost no one is talking about solutions, even though we have everything we need right now to solve the problem. We already have cars that can get over 100 MPG. We already have the technology to get most of our energy from wind and solar power. All we need now is the leadership to make it happen. That's where we come in. Right here on campus, we're working to get our legislators to be leaders for the Clean Energy in the Statehouse and more. Stopping global warming needs to start here!

Come to our meetings @5:30 on Tuesdays in the Blue Wall!

Textbooks: Textbook prices are out of control! As you know we are paying $900 a year on textbooks and publishers are using all kinds of gimmicks to inflate prices even more. Last year we got major publishers to cut some of their prices a little bit, and this year we're working with professors and legislators to get publishers to lower their prices even more. We're also working to make it easier for students to find used books, by organizing a book swap here on campus! Get involved! Email: taylormagic33@hotmail.com
