Paige Thompson and Steve
Roux roused from their beds at 4:00 AM to board a plane from Providence
and fly to the University
of Southern California,
LA. There, Roux and Thompson participated in the largest gathering of students
working on hunger and homelessness issues in the United States. They attended
numerous workshops, participated in an Oxfam Hunger Banquet, and networked with
their peers. They returned to the south shore momentarily exhausted but
inspired and ready to help communities in need in Fall
River and New Bedford.
Stay tuned for exciting
events on campus during National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week,
11.13-11.17.
These students received
funding for the conference from the generous members of UMass Dartmouth Student
Senate.
