Students strut ‘trashy’ fashions at show (new window)

By Herald News Staff

University of Massachusetts Dartmouth students held a “trashion show” — that’s trash fashion — Thursday night to showcase original outfits made of recycled materials like trash bags, soda cans and recycled paper.

The group that organized the event, the Massachusetts Public Interest Research Group, or MASSPIRG, offered a petition for students to sign in support of an expanded bottle recycling bill. The group also promoted ways the state can improve recycling, as the UMass Dartmouth student models walked the runway. All the outfits were designed by UMass Dartmouth students.
