OVER 40 STUDENTS CALL D.C. ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING- 1/27/09 42 Amherst Students called our Congressperson, Rep John Olver, at a MASSPIRG table in Keefe campus Center to ask for more funding for public transit in the economic stimulus package.
TRICK OR CANNING- 10/31/08 MASSPIRG's Hunger and Homelessness Campaign, organized by Michelle Huynh and Silvia Wu, held it's annual Trick or Canning on Halloween. We had over 40 volunteers go out for over 80 hours... and raised OVER 700 LBS OF FOOD for the Food Bank of Western MA.
MASSPIRG STUDENTS HOST GLOBAL WARMING SOLUTIONS VICTORY PARTY- 10/7/08 This summer helped pass the Global Warming Solutions Act which will decrease the state's global warming pollution by 80% by the year 2050. We hosted a Victory Party with Senator Stanley Rosenberg and local speakers from Amherst College, Smith College and UMASS to commemorate the statewide and local efforts at going green.
